Founders’ Vision
The idea for Off-Campus Clinicians grew out of a shared recognition: college and graduate students across the country are facing a mental health crisis of unprecedented scale. Counseling centers, though staffed with dedicated and caring professionals, are often stretched far beyond their capacities. Meanwhile, students carrying the burdens of anxiety, depression, trauma, identity struggles, and the pressures of high performance are left waiting too long – or never connecting – with the care they truly need.

As psychologists deeply embedded in university, medical, and community settings, Dr. Robert A. Graceffo, Dr. Matthew C. Johnson, and Dr. Alek K. Davila witnessed this reality firsthand. Each saw talented, motivated students – our society’s next generation of thinkers, leaders, and innovators – struggling under immense pressures in environments not designed to fully support their mental health needs. All three recognized that without timely, specialized care, too many students risked falling short of their potential.
Off-Campus Clinicians was founded as a direct response to this challenge. By building a network of doctoral-level psychologists and partnering with prep schools, colleges, and universities, we help counseling centers extend their reach and lighten their load. What sets us apart is not only our clinical expertise and extensive experience working with students and emerging adults, but also our perspective. Each member of our team spent years as a student, navigating the same pressures and transitions today’s students face. We’ve also worked in highly challenging educational and developmental settings ourselves, giving us a grounded perspective on what students need most as they strive not only for success, but for genuine growth and well-being. This dual perspective – personal and professional – allows us to bring both deep understanding and finely tuned expertise to the care we provide.
